Watch the video for Iron Maiden's apocalyptic new single, The Writing On The Wall
British metal legends preview their forthcoming album with a riffy new song written by guitarist Adrian Smith

Iron Maiden has released their first new music in six years. Having teased their comeback with a succession of cunning cryptic clues in recent weeks, the British metal legends have released their first single since 2016’s Empire Of The Clouds, the riffy, almost celtic-sounding The Writing On The Wall.
Unlike most Maiden tracks, the song was written by guitarist Adrian Smith and lead singer Bruce Dickinson.
The all-action animated video for The Writing On The Wall pulls references from sci-fi and heavy metal, and inspiration from Peter Jones, Roger Dean and Mike Ploog and was made with the help of two former Pixar executives – and lifelong Maiden fans – Mark Andrews and Andrew Gordon, who between them have also had a hand in creating family favourites The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Brave, Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo among others.
Look out for the unveiling of a new look 'Eddie' (Ed the Head, the band's mascot who's appeared on all of their album sleeves)...
