'GP’ Presents Oz Noy & Ozone Squeeze on March 20 in Oakland – Win Tickets!
‘Guitar Player’ welcomes the New York jazz cat back to the East Bay with Ozone Squeeze

It’s been 15 years since readers declared their Oz Noy obsession, voting him Best New Talent in 2008 and then in 2013 Best Out There Guitar Player in GP’s Readers Poll.
Noy has always got another trick up his sleeve, and the fusion wizard’s latest adventure is a second round of Ozone Squeeze.
Keyboard/vocalist Rai Thistlethwayte (Joe Satriani) and drummer Darren Stanley (Jimmy Herring) round out the act that recorded its debut released by Abstract Logix in 2017, when they played a GP Presents show that wowed a curious Yoshi’s crowd with its infectious R&B and exploratory soul jazz.
Rising singer and stage and screen star Sara Niemietz (Postmodern Jukebox) brings a fresh twist to the new material.
“I refer to Ozone Squeeze music as pop-jam R&B,” says Noy, “because to me the songs are pop R&B, and we jam on them.”
The new album, Squeeze It, drops March 31.

Noy’s muse has led him all over the musical map, and it’s always cool to hear him apply his skewed harmonic sense and devastating groove in a new direction.
Thistlethwayte brings a bit of a Stevie Wonder flavor to the mix, and it’s fun to hear their seemingly disparate elements literally “Come Together” as they do on their groovy take of the Beatles’ classic that kicked off the debut album.
We’ve done many events with Oz and he always delivers novel ways to worm his patented Strat jazz tones laced with otherworldly effects into our earholes.
Come show your appreciation for his wonderful weirdness at Yoshi’s in Oakland on the third Monday in March. Solidify your support with advance tickets.
