GP Presents Gov’t Mule on Saturday, February 17 in Oakland, CA – win tickets
Roots rock guitar captain Warren Haynes and his stalwart crew are bringing their ongoing 30th anniversary celebration to the Fox Theater
GP Presents is proud to partner with Another Planet Entertainment to welcome roots rock guitar captain Warren Haynes and his stalwart crew back to the Bay Area. Gov’t Mule will celebrate 30 adventurous years with an entire evening event on the third Saturday in February.
The band’s latest studio LP Peace…Like a River (Fantasy) is a sonically varied album combining concise songcraft with the band’s trademark instrumental journeys. Billy Gibbons makes a killer cameo on the down and dirty Shake Our Way Out. Made My Peace is heavy, dreamy, and psychedelic in a way that would make David Gilmour smile.
“Most of these songs were written during lockdown,” Haynes says. “But I made a conscious decision: I didn’t want to write a bunch of Covid-centric songs.” Rather, Haynes set out to explore the changes that he, and everyone else, was going through. “I wanted to focus on the positive aspects of what we’re learning, especially to appreciate what we took for granted before.”
Haynes honed his live skills with the Allman Brothers Band and the Dead, and he brings all that improvisational experience to the harder-kicking Mule. This will be the third time GP Presents has been involved with a Haynes show at the Fox. The others were Sco-Mule with John Scofield in 2015, and the Last Waltz in 2022.
It’s always a unique experience with Haynes’ gutsy grooves, otherworldly slide excursions and tasty melodic lines providing common threads. We can’t wait to see what he brings to the musical banquet as Gov’t Mule commemorate three delightful decades at the table.
