Gibson Debuts New Custom Shop 1961 SG Models
The luxurious new SGs celebrate the instrument's 60th anniversary.
Though Gibson already turned plenty of heads with the announcement of its stunning “Captain” Kirk Douglas Signature SG earlier this week, that isn't the only impressive SG the company has in the works.
Today, it announced two luxurious new Custom Shop SGs – the 1961 Classic White VOS SG Custom and 1961 Cherry Red VOS SG Standard – in celebration of the model's 60th anniversary.
Info on the guitars is few and far between as of press time, though – given that they're Custom Shop creations – we can assume the historical accuracy and attention to detail will be second to none.
As for concrete specs, the Classic White VOS SG Custom features a trio of humbuckers, a Sideways Vibrola, white pickguard, and gold hardware. The Cherry Red VOS SG Standard, meanwhile, packs a pair of humbuckers, a Sideways Vibrola, black pickguard, and chrome hardware.
Though that's about all we know for now, we'll update you as soon we have more specs and details on these beauties.
For now, keep your eyes on gibson.com.
