Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over but these 29 guitar deals are still going strong - get something before they're gone
Black Friday and Cyber Monday might be over, but there are still plenty of discounts on guitars, bass guitars, pedals, amps and recording gear still on the table - but you'll have to be quick
Just when you thought the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales had come to an end, many retailers clearly didn't get the memo and have left a whole bunch of guitar deals on the table.
Myself and the Guitar Player team have had a look through what deals remain and picked out a list of our favourite discounts on electric guitars, basses, pedals and amps.
Just bear in mind that these discounts could come to an end at any moment, so if you missed out on the big sales weekend and see something you love, my advice is to dive in before the prices go back to normal.
Electric guitar deals
Guitar Center is discounting select Fender Player Strats by up to $100, which makes these awesome guitars an incredibly good deal. Authentic Strat appointments, shared by all models, include a hand-shaped alder body, a five-way selector switch, alnico pickups, and a fast, comfortable maple neck. There’s the choice of a classic all-out single coil SSS configuration, or you can opt for versions loaded with a humbucker in the bridge.
The NF3 is a full-sounding Stratocaster-type guitar but, in true PRS style, it also has huge stylistic potential, with remarkable build quality to boot. It features a poplar body bolted to a slab-sawn maple neck with PRS’s Wide Thin profile on a 25-inch scale-length, with a trio of the company's own Narrowfield DD ‘S’ humbuckers to provide a wide tonal palette.
Sweetwater’s Cyber Monday sale slashes $300 off the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSS FR M, bringing this high-performance shredder to under $1,000 – a fantastic deal. Featuring the signature Charvel hallmarks – like a speed neck, compound-radius fingerboard, Seymour Duncan pickups, and a Floyd Rose tremolo – this guitar is built for fast, precise playing. Typically great value for money, this deal makes it even better, offering pro-level performance at a price point that’s hard to resist.
The Player II lineup revamps Fender's most popular guitar line with fresh looks, the return of rosewood and rolled fingerboard edges for maximum comfort. The range only launched in July, so we weren't expecting to see any deals this Cyber Monday, but Musician's Friend has this limited-edition Strat in British Racing Green for just $599 (that's $200 off) – and an HSS version in Ocean Turquoise for $649. We've already seen a couple of Player II deals sell out, so trust us: these won't last long.
Only 200 of these guitars were ever produced worldwide, and Sweetwater is now offering you the opportunity to get your hands on one at a much lower price. With a whopping $6,000 slashed off the price, we can assure you that you won’t be able to get one of these guitars any cheaper!
Acoustic guitar deals
Get One, Gift One: Get a Taylor BT-1 for only $99
At participating retailers, if you buy a 300 or 400 series Taylor you can get an additional Baby Taylor for $99, a GS Mini for $199, or an Academy model from $299. Taylor is running this promotion until January 6th, so if you have been after a new acoustic, this is a wonderful chance to get an additional model to use yourself or a gift for someone special.
If you're looking to splurge on an acoustic we can't think of many that are better, or bigger, than the Guild F-55E. It's got a hefty $1,400 discount at Sweetwater, making it an incredible deal on a premium instrument. In our recent Guild F-55E review, we praised it for its loud and well-balanced tone, slim neck with fantastic playing feel, and outstanding build quality.
The Malibu Player may be small, but this pint-sized acoustic packs a punch. Featuring a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and 6-in-line headstock, this guitar is immensely playable, sounds fantastic and looks pretty cool while doing it.
Those who are charmed by Martin's heritage but are looking for an acoustic with a slightly more modern appearance would do well to check out this Special GPC X1E X Series model. An amazing $150 cheaper this Cyber Monday, this acoustic features Martin's stellar E-1 pickup system, with its scalloped X-bracing helping to ensure that it booms and projects when un-amplified as well.
The best 3/4 scale acoustic guitar on the market and one of the finest beginner acoustics ever constructed, the Baby Taylor is ideal for smaller hands learning their way around the fretboard, as well as more seasoned players who need a robust travel companion to take on the road. It's also the guitar Taylor swift learned on, and hey – if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for us.
The Dove is one the finest Gibson acoustic guitars. This Epiphone version brings you the Dove's ornate style and booming sound with 20% off the price. Though it features an imitation tortoise pickguard, rather than the real thing, the Epi Dove's Fishman Sonitone pickup system and Grover machine heads are high quality. A luxurious-looking acoustic at a non-first-class price.
Bass guitar deals
Who says beginner basses need to be boring? The Paranormal Rascal Bass from Squier is somewhat of a Frankenstein’s monster of a bass, combining features from several 1960s-era Fender bass models to concoct an instrument that’s the best of all worlds. Save $100 at Sweetwater.
Featuring an inbuilt two-band active preamp system, Candy Apple Red-finished body, hard maple neck and fingerboard, open-gear tuners and six-point bolt-on neck, the Sterling by Music Man StingRay is a gloriously appointed bass guitar for any beginner. Grab one today for only $299.
When it comes to reliable, well-made beginner bass guitars, you don't get much better than Yamaha - and better get, with it's P/J arrangement of pickups, this bass is sonically versatile too!
Squier's Classic Vibe '60s Jazz Bass is one of our favorite bass guitars – certainly the best if you're on a budget – and its P-Bass sibling is no slouch, either. While its build quality isn't fully bulletproof, it's just about impossible to beat this Precision Bass' super-cool vintage looks and super-smooth playability at this price, which, for Cyber Monday, has been cut further, by a clean $150.
Pedal deals
Over at Guitar Center, the MS-70CDR+ has got a tasty $40 discount, bringing it to just above the $100 mark. The original Zoom MultiStomps earned something a cult following thanks to their versatility. Small, yet packing a shedload of sounds inside the MultiStomp is the perfect 'Swiss army knife' pedal to add a particular tone or utility to your 'board when you don't want to take up too much room or spend too much money.
If you like your pedals wild and unpredictable, the Pigtronix Gloamer should satisfy your need for the weird. It's got a nice $80 discount at Guitar Center, taking it down below the $200 mark. Best paired with other pedals like reverbs and delays, its compressing, volume swelling action can get you some properly out-there tones.
The HX One has only been around for a year, but Line 6 has seen fit to give it a tidy discount for Cyber Monday. The HX One is essential as that 'do-all' pedal for your 'board – in our review, we called it "a bargain for a complete collection of effects that most guitarists will never grow tired of", and that was at the original price of $299. Given that, $249 for a pedal that can handle pretty much any effect you can imagine, all in a compact chassis, is the best gift you can give your pedalboard this year.
Line 6 Helix range: up to $150 off at Guitar Center
Guitar Center is offering up to $150 off across its entire catalog of Line 6 Helix products – some of the most popular and powerful multi-effects and modeler units on the market. My eye is caught by the $50 discount on the compact HX One, which launched this year. It scored 4.5 stars in our HX One review and is very new, very handy and very good value...
Dunlop, MXR, Way Huge pedals: 20% off
A blanket 20% discount across Jim Dunlop's huge portfolio of pedals? Guitar Center, you really are spoiling us. Everything from the MXR Carbon Copy ($149 $119) to Dookie Drive ($199 $159), Dunlop Cry Baby ($99 $79) to Way Huge Swollen Pickle ($149 $119) are included.
Possibly the best amp modeler/multi-FX bargain you'll get this Cyber Monday, the HeadRush Core offers a huge range of guitar, bass and vocal models and FX, it can clone your own analog gear, and features a 7" touchscreen for easy operation. Musician's Friend has a $100 discount, bringing the price down to $799.
Electro-Harmonix pedals: Up to 50% off at Musician’s Friend
It’s the time to load up on pedalboard staples from Electro-Harmonix in Musician Friend’s Black Friday sale, with discounts on classic units like the Big Muff Pi, POG II and Memory Man. Meanwhile, newer additions, like the Satisfaction Fuzz Plus (inspired by the Maestro FuzzTone) and Pulsar Tremolo are half price.
Amp deals
With its two-channel design that delivers pristine clean and aggressive overdrive/distortion tones, both with boost, the Classic 20 112 is a highly attractive and affordable working class amp with an impressive variety of useful additional features.
One of the original, and in our opinion still one of the best headphone amps for guitar, the Fender Mustang Micro has a nice $15 discount at Musician’s Friend in their Cyber Monday sale. Packed full of amp models and effects it fits a surprisingly large amount of functionality into a teeny-tiny chassis, making it a brilliant, low-cost choice for practicing your instrument at home on the go.
If you're looking for a small tube amp this Cyber Monday, we'd go for the Supro Delta King 12. Not only does it look incredible, but it takes pedals brilliantly. It's got a great clean sound but if you crank the volume it'll break up beautifully. With a tasty $100 discount in the Sweetwater sale, it's a great opportunity to pick up a tube amp for a lot less.
Sweetwater Boss Katana sale: Save up to $150
Sweetwater is getting ahead of the game with their early Black Friday sale. You can save up to $150 on select amps in the Katana range, including slightly smaller savings on the new Gen 3 models. With money off amplifiers for both guitarists and bassists, there hasn’t been a better time to snag a bargain on the world’s best-selling amplifier range. Stock will likley be limited and we don’t see these prices sticking around for long.
This adorable pint-sized version of Fender’s revered Deluxe guitar amps is the ideal gift for the guitarist in your life. It accurately replicates the classic design, right down to the chickenhead knobs and dogbone handle. The Mini Deluxe’s 2” speaker puts out one watt of power, and the amp features controls for Tone, Volume and Gain, plus an onboard headphone output. At just $29 – $20 off the regular price of $49.99 – from Amazon, can you afford not to pick one up?
Recording gear deals
Probably the best guitar VST deal we've seen this Black Friday, at IK Multimedia's website if you buy Amplitube 5 Max or Tonex Max for $99.99, you'll get the other completely free of charge. With a huge array of accurately modeled and captured guitar tones, the combination of both bits of software means you'll be well covered for guitar tones for the considerable future.
With a massive $200 discount, this is one of the cheapest prices I've ever seen an Apollo Twin X going for, most likely due to the fact that Gen 2 recently launched. Don't let that put you off if your budget can't stretch to the latest model, this is still a phenomenally good audio interface for home recording.

"Why does John Frusciante want a piece of crap like this?" Eddie Van Halen didn't like the guitarist's choice of wah pedal. His advice to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' axeman was priceless
It might not be the latest model but I still think the Fender Mustang Micro punches above its weight - get it for even less in the Cyber Monday sales
