Exclusive Web Preview! The 2008 GP Readers’ Choice Awards

GP’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards let you play editor, and shout out the guitarists who thrilled, astounded, and inspired you throughout the past year, as well as spotlight what you felt were the best products reviewed in the magazine’s pages, and rate the staff with your picks of the best—and worst—articles GP ran during the previous 12 months. (The ballot is always published in the December issue, and you can vote online.) Here’s a special online preview of the awards. For the print version, check out the May 2008 issue of Guitar Player.
This year, special congratulations are in order for the players and manufacturers you selected as repeat winners from 2007: Zakk Wylde (Metal), Joe Bonamassa (Blues), Brad Paisley (Country), and Sharon Isbin (Classical), D’Addario and Ernie Ball (Best Strings), Seymour Duncan (Favorite Electric Pickup), Fishman (Favorite Acoustic Pickup/Preamp), and the Fender Stratocaster (All-Time Favorite Piece of Gear).
And, although there were the usual head-scratchers (noted world-beaters Pete Townshend and Tony Iommi being considered for Best World Guitarist), and arcane bits of goofy humor (Clay Aiken made a run for Best Metal Guitarist), your annual selections truly honor the artists and gear makers who make it so marvelous to fall into an impassioned love affair with all things guitar.
